Builder confidence in the market for newly built single-family homes remained unchanged at a solid 68 reading in July on the NAHB/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI).

“Consumer demand for single-family homes is holding strong this summer, buoyed by steady job growth, income gains and low unemployment in many parts of the country,” said NAHB Chairman Randy Noel.

Summerlin, Inspirada, Cadence and Skye Canyon are four master-planned communities in the Las Vegas Valley and all ranked in the top 50 of best selling master-plan communities in the country.

Summerlin had the largest increase of home sales in the nation for the first half of 2018 and ranked 3 in the country of top master-plans.  There were 772 home sold from January 1 thru June 30- which is 64 percent gain from last year when 470 homes were sold last year during the same time period.

EDGEVIEW BY CENTURY COMMUNITIES NOW OPEN

This past weekend Century Communities, a top 10 homebuilder in the United States, opened Edgeview a neighborhood in the southwest Las Vegas Valley.

Edgeview is a gated neighborhood that offers 104 homesites of single-story homes with elevations in desert contemporary and modern.  There are three model homes to view ranging from 1,750 to 2,204 square feet and prices starting in the high $300,000s.  The homes offer two to four bedrooms, 2 ½ to 4 baths and two-car garages.

Atlanta, the former No. 1 new-home market, remains a barometer for the nation. At 25,000 permits, Atlanta is still the third largest new home market in the U.S., but almost nine years into our “recovery,” we are still 50% below our pre-bubble normal (Atlanta permit chart). This is in spite of nearly a decade of positive job growth, positive in-migration and population growth. All of MarketNsight’s 18 cities across the Southeast exhibit this trend. Most cities are still anywhere from 30% to 60% below pre-recession levels. Whom are we missing?
